America Table is a 11-foot wide map of the United States in painted epoxy resin set on legs that spelled the word “Independence”. It is part of one of the latest projects with the “Jefferson Chair” of the well-known architect and designer Gaetano Pesce, presented at the Design Miami 2012 by Erastudio Apartment Gallery. America Table is a tribute to Democracy and the United States, created for the occasion of the last year presidential elections. The table and chair, a unique piece and prototype respectively, evoke one of the most important moments in the history of America: the drafting of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America in 1776. After his “Sessantuna” collection of 61 tables designed to celebrate the Unity of Italy, his birthplace, Gaetano Pesce renders homage to his adopted country with the “America Table and Jefferson Chair” project.
