ABOUT
ERASTUDIO is an internationally active Milan-based collectible design gallery and interior projects consulting. It's utilizes its encompassing and its experiences in collectible design gallery and in functional design with interior architectural practice and personal intellectual taste to bring people into its philosophy of living and the construction of a life where one can live not just alongside art but circumscribed by it.
The three letters, ERA , when together is the italian conjugation of the verb ‘to be’ in the past; “It was”. ERA it denotes a period of time in a given culture, a more concise synonym of epoch. It then seeks to construct a new, contemporary, mode of relation between the two using as springboard their historic interconnectedness in Italy and infusing this history with the richness of international contemporary voices from other continents and traditions. ERASTUDIO embraces these multitudes of significance and rejects that which is oversimplified in favour of a vision of living in which one is circumscribed by art design and architecture, where the environment and objects contained within become a part of living itself.

Void.
Lack of definition. Change. Ethics that turn into aesthetics.
A rugged space. Devoid of unequivocal connotations, inside an early XX century building.
House, studio, gallery integrated into a total programmatically fluid unity. The classic typology of that early of the early XX century flat – a succession of rooms giving on and aisle – is kept as it is yet it is, yet it is ideally deconstructed. The pureness of the project erases any dogmatism. The organic non-place, being open to change and different activities, is alive and pulsating.
Era: as past, as epic, as intelligence.
Walls are scruffy peeled off their original skin, they get a new changing one. Furnishing is limited to very few pieces: elongated mirrors, sharp-edged furniture pieces, wardrobes that tell of different moves through the different collage of their exteriors.
The rarified pureness of the project clashes with the brutality of the decadence, either real or recreated. Mistakes far from being avoided, are welcomed as a catalysis to be creative process; extreme strictness works as an anectode laissez-faire. What is not there, what has been brought away defines the space just like what has been left. Working in the subtraction multiple possibilities – of use and interpretation – in place of reducing them.
The poetics of scarification denies stillness. One year from now everything could be different.
